Abrasive face scrubs made from natural ingredients, such as coconut husks, can only be used once a week. Microbead scrubs present a smoother abrasive scrub that can be used on a daily basis. Coconuts husks or microbeads; it doesn’t really matter in the long run, does it? Modern sewer systems filter out all kinds of horrible human wastes and cleaning supplies, then a couple of tiny beads of plastic shouldn’t change anything. Unfortunately, most modern sewage processing plants aren’t capable of catching microbeads. The processes are designed for waste, not for removing plastics. Let’s follow a bead through a drain and find out just what happens to it.
